Floating or Standard mode

Floating windows mode

The terminal was traditionally a Multiple Document Interface (MDI) application - this means that there is one large main window that hosts all the terminals windows (such as Market, Composite and Symbol windows). This makes it very easy to use, but it does limit the flexibility in where you can place windows and external applications.

To overcome these limitations we introduced an optional application mode that we call Floating windows mode. This is turned off by default, but can be enabled by going to the main menu, selecting Tools and then Preferences. From the Preferences window, choose User Interface --> General. Tick the box to activate Floating windows. You may have to restart Infront for the changes to take place.

This will move the desktop tab control just below the toolbar. We recommend placing the toolbar at the top of your monitor.
